STOX (switchable trace oxygen) sensors are highly sensitive oxygen sensors with a detection limit in the lower nanomolar range (appr. 40nM). The sensors are usable for bottle incubations to gain high resolution profiles both spatially and temporarily in the lower redox range. While conventianal methods, i.e. the Winkler tiration or Seabird sensors, have a detection limit in the range of 2 µM, a much more detailed measurement of oxygen distributions and oxygen consumption can be achieved with this highly sensitive sensor type.
