Tourism, Human, Nature – a German-Danish exchange in Natural Sciences

The Christian-Albrechts-Universität of Kiel (CAU) is a partner of the Interreg IVa project „Tourism, Human, Nature“ in the framework of school programs of the Cluster of Excellence „Future Ocean“ in cooperation with the Institute for Terrestrial and Aquatic Wildlife Research (Büsum, University of Veterinary Medicine Hannover, Foundation).

For the topic „senses of whales and seals“ in the context of the Interreg project a Baltic Sea relief model and an expedition box “bioacoustics and harbor porpoises”, as well as teaching material was developed. The expedition boxes follow the example of the ones created for “Future Ocean” and can be borrowed by schools and the cooperation natural science centers for project related work. The expedition boxes are also applied in the ozean:labor of the Cluster of Excellence in the Kieler Forschungswerkstatt.

„Tourism, Human, Nature“ is the name of an Interreg IVa project in which eight natural science centers and research facilities from Schleswig-Holstein and Southern Denmark cooperate. By building a network of learning opportunities cross border a cultural, social and economic exchange is encouraged. Therefore, activities such as special exhibitions and events are developed in both Denmark and Germany to excite people for natural phenomena and create awareness and a better understanding for relations between humans and their surrounding environment.

This project is funded by Interreg IVa Syddanmark-Schleswig-K.E.R.N. with means of the European Regional Development Fund (EFRE)
