In the interactive fish length game, visitors use a ruler to measure domestic types of fish, such as plaice, cod and herring, to see if they are already big enough for consumption. In addition, films were shown which informed visitors about different fish catch methods, such as beam trawl, trawl net or long line fishery. Marine scientific experiments developed by the ‘Kiel Forschungswerkstatt’, a set of laboratories at Kiel University open to school classes, covering the topic “Ecosystem Baltic Sea” as well as lectures about sustainable fisheries, the future of the coast and dangers from the ocean completed the offer from Kiel’s marine sciences.
