ScienceStation

In the mobile hands-on exhibition ScienceStation covering the topic seas and oceans, science can be experienced in an interactive way in Germany’s train stations. It can be seen in Dresden, Mainz, Munich, Erfurt and Cologne.

How can we protect and maintain our seas and oceans? What secrets does the deep sea harbor? The ScienceStation approaches these and other questions relating to seas and oceans in a playful manner. From May 23 to October 11, 2016 the exhibition will be touring through Germany’s train stations. The exhibition is made up of different stations which cover, among other topics, the climate factor ocean, the national park Wadden Sea and the ecosystem coastal sea. The Cluster of Excellence “The Future Ocean” is taking part with two exhibits. With interactive experiments and interesting background information the exhibition appeals to children, young people and adults.

The ScienceStation is a joint project of Science in Dialogue (“Wissenschaft im Dialog”), the Deutsche Bahn and the magazine “Welt der Wunder”. Since 2008 the mobile hands-on exhibition has been touring through Germany’s train stations for several weeks every year. The tour always covers the topic of the current Science Year of the Federal Ministry for Education and Research. The Science Year 2016*17 is devoted to seas and oceans. Entrance is free of charge.
