Jörn Schmidt from the Cluster of Excellence “The Future Ocean” organized a session on integrated ecological-economical modeling together with Rasmus Nielsen of DTU Aqua. An opening speech by the internationally renowned ecosystem modeler Elizabeth Fulton, Humans - The Missing Jigsaw Piece, was followed by a series of 19 talks in total. The results of this theme session will be combined with those of a similar session from the 16th Biennial Conference of the International Institute of Fisheries Economics and Trade in a White Paper (Current Status and Trends in Integrated Ecological-Economic Models in Fisheries).
In addition Rainer Froese, fishery biologist from GEOMAR I Helmholtz Centre for Ocean Research in Kiel, presented the results of the current study on seals of quality for fish in the panel session Sustainable fish and sustainable fisheries on the 9th of May. The study was made in collaboration with the maritime lawyer Alexander Proelß and recently published in the journal Marine Policy.
