A stand on the Kiellinie passersby can learn about the Cluster’s research and, through the computer game ecoOcean, about the importance of sustainable fisheries. Here visitors become fishermen themselves and learn how much they can fish without endangering fish stocks in the world’s oceans. Comfortable seating provide old and young explorers a chance to rest their feet. Multimedia monitors guide the audience along past the journeys of research vessels which can be followed by touch on the relief globe. The converted freighter MS Wissenschaft will make a stop-over on the eastern bank in front of GEOMAR from the 21st until the 24th of June. On board, visitors can test if the fish they have caught are big enough. The fish length game is an exhibit developed by scientists in the Cluster of Excellence. The exhibit is appropriate for young researchers from the age of 10 and up.

Kiel Week Lecture Series, 18th to 22nd of June
Scientists will talk about and discuss socially significant topics on sustainable concepts to protect the oceans, such as sustainable fisheries, shipping, emergency operations against climate change or marine mining. The talks will be held in German. (Link to pdf)
