International experts explain the connection between processes on microscopic scales and global feedback mechanisms. Developments in the upper millimeter of the oceans, for example, can have a decisive influence on the climate system. Moreover, vegetation on ship hulls, triggered by microorganisms, has a huge impact on the costs of the maritime transportation system.
During the one-hour evening lectures, invited lecturers will give fascinating insights into their research and vividly explain what meaning nano scale processes have for our everyday life. Two of the in total seven lectures will be held in English. The series of lectures is aimed at the interested public and students of all disciplines, as well as scientists.
The lecture series will start on May 19th at 5 pm with the lecture “Der Ozean in klein: Klimawandel in einem Wassertropfen?“ by Prof. Martin Wahl of the GEOMAR Helmholtz Centre for Ocean Research Kiel.
