The 15th Kiel Marketplace, on October 6th, 2016, reflected this development and according to the motto “From science into practice” informed participants about a variety of best practice examples from numerous topics in marine and climate research. About 70 participants from science, politics and industry took the opportunity in the Norbert Gansel Lecture Hall of the university to exchange ideas and network.
During the evening event, for example, the use of real-time telemetry data via coaxial cables on research ships was presented. This innovative underwater technology has made a major contribution to the study of black smokers. Moreover, the University of Applied Sciences presented current projects of the Kiel AUV (Autonomous Underwater Vehicle) Alliance, and the technical faculty presented a biocide-free anti-fouling paint for the maritime industry.
A brochure developed for 10-year anniversary of the Kiel Marketplace summarizes the most important developments, insights and previous topics and presents the successful dialogue of the partners from science and industry. The brochure can be downloaded here or obtained directly from the Maritime Cluster, www.maritimes-cluster.de, or from the Cluster of Excellence “The Future Ocean“ - mail to wmueller-lupp@uv.uni-kiel.de.
