Annual Report 2009
In 2009 the Cluster of Excellence Future Ocean completed its third full working year. It has been another one of both the generation of new knowledge and budgetary growth, and an important step in the structural development of our exciting endeavor. The activities and achievements of 2009 are documented in this report.

Annual Report 2008
The Future Ocean was among the first eighteen of thirty-seven Clusters of Excellence funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG), receiving its first funding in the fall of 2006. The cluster is primarily organized around thirteen junior research groups (JRGs) enhancing existing Kiel-based research efforts and supported by several research platforms. During 2007 and 2008 these groups were being established, group leaders and scientific personnel were hired. 2008 was hence the first year where all groups were fully operating throughout most of the year, and we are proud to present the first scientific results in this report.
