6th International Symposium on Submarine Mass Movements and Their Consequences

The Symposium will be hosted by the GEOMAR | Helmholtz Centre for Ocean Research Kiel and the Cluster of Excellence "The Future Ocean" from 23rd to 25th September 2013 at the GEOMAR in Kiel (Germany).

This symposium is an activity of the International Geoscience Programme (IGCP) 585 "Earth’s continental MARgins: aSessing the geoHAzard from submarine Landslides (E-MARSHALL)". The International Geoscience Programme is a joint endeavor of UNESCO and the International Union of Geological Sciences. The main objective the symposium is to bring a world perspective of submarine mass movements and their consequences by assembling excellent contributions from active international researchers, academic institutions, and the oil and gas industry thus providing full coverage of the many scientific and engineering aspects of this type of marine and coastal geo-hazard.

A preliminary timetable of the symposium can be downloaded here.
